Windsurfing Blog
I tried gybing my last time out and was successful a few times. Carving the board around presents no problem though I need to remember to keep my knees bent so I can recover my balance more quickley. For me, the problem comes when I'm getting ready to flip the sail. I often fall at this stage and usually fall toward the tail or windward rail. It's easy to say 'don't stand so far back on the tail or windward rail' but I think I am crowded into this location by the rig. I think this means that I have the rig in the wrong location. So I probably am not 'transitioning' the sail to the leeward side of the board before gybing the sail. I may also need to extend my arms a little to keep the sail more forward and away from my body so that I have more room for myself on the center of the board. In my next sailing session, I'm going to focus on these aspects and hopefully resolve my gybe problems.
